Nigeria’s sprint queen Tobi Amusan has added another milestone to her glittering career, winning the silver medal in the women’s 100-metre hurdles final at the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo.

Amusan clocked 12.29 seconds to finish second behind Switzerland’s Ditaji Kambundji, who stormed to victory with a new national record of 12.24 seconds. The bronze medal went to the United States’ Grace Stark, who crossed the line in 12.34 seconds.

The silver medal earned Amusan a $35,000 reward from World Athletics, while she also received an additional $20,000 bonus from her kit sponsor, bringing her total earnings from the championship to $55,000.

This latest podium finish continues Amusan’s impressive run on the global stage, after previously winning gold at the 2022 World Championships in Oregon and setting a world record in the event.

Her performance in Tokyo further cements her reputation as one of Nigeria’s greatest athletes and a dominant force in women’s sprint hurdles.

Analysts note that despite narrowly missing out on gold, Amusan’s consistency at the highest level showcases her determination, resilience, and world-class talent.
