The Nigerian Army has recorded another major breakthrough in its ongoing counter-terrorism and anti-banditry operations across the country, following the arrest of a wanted terror suspect identified as Idris Idris, popularly known as Babawo Badoo, alongside 37 other criminal elements.
According to multiple reports, troops of Operation Enduring Peace apprehended the suspects during a coordinated raid on criminal hideouts in Lugere Village, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, on October 20, 2025.
Sources within the military revealed that the operation led to the rescue of 15 kidnapped victims, the recovery of several weapons, and the dismantling of major terror cells operating in the North-Central region.
The suspects are said to be responsible for several attacks, kidnappings, and acts of banditry within Plateau and neighboring states. They are currently in the custody of the Nigerian Army for further interrogation.
Although the Army is yet to issue an official statement at press time, several national news platforms, including The Nation, Daily Post, and Conduit News NG, have reported the arrest citing reliable military sources.
“The capture of Babawo Badoo is a significant milestone in our efforts to end terrorism and restore peace to affected communities,” a senior military source reportedly said.
The Nigerian Army has, in recent months, intensified its operations aimed at flushing out terrorists, bandits, and violent extremists from troubled regions, with renewed focus on intelligence-driven raids and community-based security collaboration.
