How I Broke FUTA Academic Record With 4.98 CGPA — Varsity Best Graduate, Akindunbi

Aduragbemi Akindunbi, the overall best graduating student of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), has revealed how discipline, consistency, and strategic studying helped him break the university’s academic record with a 4.98 Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA).
Akindunbi, who emerged as the best graduating student at FUTA’s 36th convocation ceremony, set a new academic milestone after surpassing the institution’s previous highest CGPA of 4.96. His achievement has been officially recognised by the university as the highest CGPA ever recorded in its history.
Speaking in an interview, the record-breaking graduate attributed his success to early preparation, time management, and a strong commitment to learning. He explained that he treated every academic session seriously and avoided postponing academic responsibilities.
According to him, consistency played a major role in maintaining excellent results throughout his undergraduate years. He noted that attending lectures regularly, revising course materials daily, and seeking clarification whenever concepts were unclear helped him stay ahead academically.
Akindunbi also highlighted the importance of balance, stating that he did not rely solely on reading but ensured he rested well and maintained healthy relationships. He added that surrounding himself with like-minded peers positively influenced his academic journey.
The FUTA best graduate further encouraged students to believe that exceptional academic performance is achievable with determination and focus, stressing that intelligence alone is not enough without discipline and hard work.
