Sanwo-Olu Meets Security Chiefs, Assures Lagos Residents of Peaceful Yuletide

By Erewunmi Peace

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has met with heads of security agencies in the state to review ongoing operations and strengthen strategies to ensure a peaceful and safe yuletide season for residents.

The meeting, held at the Lagos House, Ikeja, brought together top officials from the Nigeria Police Force, the Armed Forces, Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps (LNSC), and other intelligence units. The governor said the session was necessary as the festive period typically attracts increased movement, commercial activities, and security challenges.

Speaking after the closed-door meeting, Governor Sanwo-Olu reassured Lagosians that adequate measures have been put in place to maintain law and order across the state throughout the Christmas and New Year celebrations.

“Lagos will remain safe. Our security architecture is strong, coordinated, and fully prepared for the festive season. We are working closely with all agencies to ensure residents and visitors can move around peacefully,” he said.

He added that the state has intensified surveillance, increased patrols in major commercial hubs, and deployed personnel to sensitive locations to curb crime and ensure quick response to emergencies.

Sanwo-Olu urged residents to remain vigilant, cooperate with security operatives, and report suspicious activities through the state’s emergency hotlines.

The governor also appealed for responsible celebration during the festive period, noting that a joint operation involving police, military, and local security outfits would continue across the state.

With enhanced security plans already activated, Lagos State authorities say they are committed to ensuring that the yuletide season is peaceful, safe, and enjoyable for all.
