Osun APC Accuses Adeleke of Lying About Teacher Recruitment
By Erewunmi Peace
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has challenged Governor Ademola Adeleke’s claim that his administration has recruited 5,000 teachers since taking office, insisting that no such recruitment has taken place.
The party described the governor’s statement as misleading, alleging that the current administration has not employed a single teacher in the last three years.
The Osun APC said Adeleke’s claims were an attempt to score political points without real action to address the shortage of teachers and poor condition of schools in the state.
“The government should stop the lies. Osun schools are suffering from inadequate staffing, and nothing has been done about it,”
the opposition party stated.
Governor Adeleke recently boasted of several achievements in the education sector, including the purported recruitment of 5,000 teachers.
The APC argues that this claim is not backed by any official records or visible deployment of new teachers in public schools.
However, the state government has not yet issued a detailed response addressing the APC’s accusation or providing documentation of the alleged recruitment.
Education concerns remain unresolved
Stakeholders say Osun schools continue to face:
High teacher-to-student ratio
Dilapidated classroom structures
Poor learning materials
Analysts warn that until the government conducts a transparent recruitment exercise, the quality of education in the state may continue to deteriorate.
The APC has vowed to continue monitoring and exposing what it calls “false claims” from the ruling party, while citizens await clarification from the government to determine whether teacher recruitment has actually occurred.
