Ruling House Rejects Wasiu Ayinde’s Bid for Awujale Throne

By Erewunmi Peace

The Fusengbuwa Ruling House of Ijebu-Ode has officially rejected the bid of Fuji music icon Wasiu Ayinde Adewale Marshal, popularly known as KWAM 1 or K1 De Ultimate, to contest for the revered Awujale of Ijebuland throne.

In a statement released by representatives of the ruling family, the house declared that Wasiu Ayinde’s submitted “Letter of Bidding” and lineage claims were invalid, citing inconsistencies and lack of verifiable proof linking him to the ruling dynasty.

According to the ruling house, the Fuji legend’s claim of belonging to the Jadiara Royal House could not be authenticated. They also noted that the form he submitted was certified by an individual not recognised as a legitimate family representative. In addition, the certification date reportedly preceded the date Wasiu Ayinde signed the document — a discrepancy the family described as unacceptable.

“The document presented by Wasiu Ayinde is null, void and of no consequence,” the ruling house stated.

With this decision, KWAM 1 is effectively disqualified from the ongoing selection process for the next Awujale, pending any further evidence or appeal.

The Awujale of Ijebuland is one of Nigeria’s most respected traditional positions, and the transition process has drawn significant public attention following the passing of Oba Sikiru Adetona, who reigned for over six decades.

The ruling house reaffirmed its commitment to a transparent and lawful selection process, stressing that only candidates with clear, traceable royal lineage will be considered for the throne.
