Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ife, has rewarded outstanding students and lecturers of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, with multi-million naira cash prizes in recognition of academic excellence and innovation.

At the convocation ceremony held in Ibadan, Oyo State, the Ooni presented:

₦6 million to the institution’s Overall Best Graduating Student.

₦1.5 million each to six other top graduating students.

₦2 million each to two lecturers who excelled in innovation and technology.

The Ooni, who is also the Permanent Chairman of the Southern Nigeria Traditional Rulers Council, emphasized the importance of education in nation-building and encouraged students and educators to pursue excellence in their fields. He noted that his own academic foundation was laid at the institution, highlighting the value of supporting schools and scholars.

“I am proud to celebrate the brilliance and innovation of these students and lecturers. Education is the key to the progress of our society, and rewarding excellence inspires the next generation of leaders,” Oba Ogunwusi said.

The gesture has drawn widespread attention, showcasing the Ooni’s ongoing commitment to education, mentorship, and the encouragement of innovation in Nigeria’s academic institutions.
