Nigeria’s Super Eagles secured a convincing 2–0 victory over Algeria on Saturday to book their place in the semi-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The quarter-final encounter saw the Super Eagles deliver a composed and dominant performance, ending Algeria’s campaign and keeping Nigeria’s title hopes alive.
Nigeria broke the deadlock shortly after the break when Victor Osimhen found the back of the net, giving the Super Eagles a deserved lead. Algeria struggled to respond as Nigeria continued to control possession and create chances.
The victory was sealed later in the match when Akor Adams scored Nigeria’s second goal, with Osimhen providing the assist, confirming Nigeria’s superiority on the night.
With the win, Nigeria advances to the AFCON semi-finals where they will face host nation Morocco, who also progressed after a 2–0 win over Cameroon in their quarter-final match.
The Super Eagles will be aiming to maintain their strong form as they take on Morocco in what promises to be a highly competitive semi-final clash.
