Former Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, has emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the 2026 Osun State election following the party’s primary exercise.
Oyebamiji’s emergence came through a consensus arrangement adopted by party stakeholders and aspirants during the APC primary held in Osogbo on Friday.
Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Kunle Adegoke (SAN), formally nominated Oyebamiji for the ticket, while the motion was seconded by former Senator Babajide Omoworare. Other aspirants reportedly stepped down to support the consensus decision in the interest of party unity.
Party leaders at the primary described the process as peaceful and transparent, noting that the consensus option was agreed upon to strengthen the APC ahead of the governorship election.
Reacting to the outcome, stakeholders praised the aspirants for placing party interest above personal ambition and expressed confidence that Oyebamiji’s candidacy would reposition the APC for victory in Osun State.
Oyebamiji, in his acceptance remarks, thanked party members and leaders for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to run an inclusive campaign focused on development, good governance, and unity.
