UI: More Than a University, It’s a Launchpad for Success — Olajomi‑Otubu

By Erewunmi Peace

Speaking at the 2025 convocation ceremony of the University of Ibadan (UI), alumna Bola Olajomi‑Otubu described the institution as “more than a university — a launchpad for success.”

Olajomi‑Otubu, who graduated with a degree in Psychology before pursuing a career in Human Resources and eventually founding her own construction-design firm, credited UI with providing the foundation for her professional journey. She described the university as a “training ground” and “refining fire” that prepared students for real-world challenges.

Highlighting the role of UI in shaping her skills and mindset, she encouraged current students to leverage the resources, mentorship, and opportunities offered by the university. “The experiences, networks, and knowledge I gained here were pivotal in navigating the early stages of my career,” she said.

Her remarks have resonated widely with alumni and students, many of whom echoed her sentiment that UI goes beyond academics to equip students for success in various fields.
