FG Opens Portal for Recruitment of 50,000 Police Constables

The Federal Government has officially opened the online portal for the recruitment of 50,000 police constables into the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), marking one of the largest police recruitment exercises in recent years.
The announcement was made by the Police Service Commission (PSC) in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force, following approval from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to strengthen the nation’s security architecture and boost manpower across police formations.
Portal Now Open
According to the PSC, the recruitment portal will be open from Monday, December 15, 2025 to January 25, 2026, allowing eligible Nigerians to submit their applications online.

The commission emphasized that the entire process is free of charge, warning applicants to avoid individuals or groups demanding payment.
What the Recruitment Aims to Achieve
The recruitment drive is part of the Federal Government’s broader efforts to:
Expand community policing nationwide
Strengthen internal security
Address manpower shortages within the Nigeria Police Force
Improve response time to crime and emergency situations across states
The PSC added that the recruitment will follow a transparent and merit-based selection process, with strict adherence to age limits, educational qualifications, physical fitness, and character requirements.
Eligibility Requirements (Highlights)
Applicants must be Nigerian by birth
Must possess a minimum of five credits in not more than two sittings in WAEC/NECO/NABTEB/GCE
Must be between 18 and 25 years old
Must be medically and physically fit
Must not have any criminal record
Male applicants must be at least 1.67m tall; females 1.64m
PSC Speaks on Transparency
