A teacher in Ekiti State has called for the arrest of a doctor he accused of removing his two kidneys during a surgical procedure

By Erewunmi Peace

The teacher, identified as
Joshua Afolayan, alleged that he was taken to the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH) for treatment after sustaining injuries from an accident.

According to him, he only consented to the removal of one damaged kidney, but later discovered that both kidneys had been removed without his approval.

Following the allegation, the Ekiti State Government set up an investigative panel to probe the incident.

The panel’s findings reportedly led to the dismissal of the surgeon involved, while other members of the surgical team were suspended.

The state government has also assured the victim of support, including plans to assist with a kidney transplant and further medical care.

Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
