One Dead, Five Trapped as Rice Mill Factory Collapses in Kebbi

At least one person has been confirmed dead, while five others were trapped following the collapse of a rice mill factory in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State.
The incident occurred on Tuesday when a section of the private rice mill reportedly gave way while workers were on duty.
Eyewitnesses said several workers were buried under the rubble before emergency responders arrived at the scene.
Officials of the Kebbi State Fire Service, alongside other rescue agencies, were immediately deployed to carry out rescue operations.
As of the time of filing this report, efforts were ongoing to rescue the trapped victims.
Confirming the incident, state authorities said one worker was pronounced dead at the scene, while others sustained varying degrees of injuries. Some of the injured were rushed to nearby hospitals for medical attention.
The Deputy Governor of Kebbi State, Umar Abubakar Tafida, led a government delegation to the site to assess the situation and supervise rescue efforts.
He expressed sympathy with the victims and their families and assured that the state government would investigate the cause of the collapse.
Authorities have also assured the public that safety standards in industrial facilities across the state would be reviewed to prevent future occurrences.
