The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has dismissed one of its personnel, Chukwu Nancy Ngozi, for masterminding the abduction of her elder brother along the Enugu–Port Harcourt Expressway.
According to a statement issued by the NIS Public Relations Officer, Assistant Comptroller of Immigration (ACI) Akinsola Akinlabi, the officer was found guilty after an internal disciplinary process. Ngozi was said to have conspired with her sister, Juliet Chukwu, a member of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), to carry out the abduction.
The statement also confirmed that another officer, Aliyu Usman, was dismissed for illegal possession of firearms. Both dismissals followed the approval of disciplinary recommendations by the Board of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Services (CDCFIB).
In addition, the board reviewed 31 other cases of misconduct involving officers of the Service. The sanctions ranged from compulsory retirement and demotion to written warnings, depending on the gravity of the offences.
The Comptroller-General of Immigration, Kemi Nandap, reiterated the Service’s commitment to maintaining discipline, professionalism, and integrity among its officers, stressing that acts of indiscipline or criminal behaviour will not be tolerated.
The Nigeria Immigration Service also assured Nigerians of its continued dedication to national security and the protection of the country’s borders.
