Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, has rusticated a 200-level student for four semesters after she filmed a dying colleague at the university health centre and posted the video on TikTok.

The student, identified as Ezi Ugoma, appeared before the Students’ Disciplinary Committee (SDC) in August 2025, where she was found guilty of gross misconduct and breach of matriculation oath.

In a letter dated October 21, 2025, and signed by the Principal Assistant Registrar, the university stated that the punishment takes effect immediately, and Ugoma will only be eligible to return for the 2027/2028 academic session.

According to the university, Ugoma’s action violated institutional ethics and showed a complete disregard for the dignity and privacy of her colleague, who was receiving emergency medical attention at the time of the recording.

The incident has sparked conversations across social media, with mixed reactions from the public—some supporting the disciplinary measure while others call for leniency.

The university has not released additional information about the condition or identity of the student who was filmed.

DELSU reiterated that it will continue to enforce disciplinary standards to ensure a responsible and respectful learning environment for its students.
