Tragic Road Crash Kills 16 Prospective NYSC Members En Route to Gombe Orientation Camp

A fatal road accident has claimed the lives of 16 prospective NYSC (National Youth Service Corps) members who were traveling to the orientation camp in Gombe State. The crash occurred while the victims were en route from Ondo State, officials and eyewitnesses said.
According to multiple reports, the victims were members of the Adeyemi Federal University of Education (AFUED) community. Two additional passengers were reportedly injured and are receiving medical attention.
Preliminary information suggests the driver lost control of the vehicle, which led to the tragic accident. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash.
No official list of the deceased has yet been released by the NYSC, and the corps directorate has not made a public statement confirming the identities of all the victims.
Family members and the AFUED community are mourning, while calls are beginning for enhanced safety measures for NYSC-bound travelers. Eyewitnesses say the vehicle was an 18-seater bus, and its passengers were traveling in a large group when the accident occurred.
As investigations continue, the NYSC may issue an official statement detailing next steps, including repatriation of the victims and support for their families.
