Nigerian Oil Magnate Auwalu Abdullahi Rano Launches First Unmanned Fuel Stations

By Erewunmi Peace

Nigeria’s oil sector has taken a technological leap with the launch of the country’s first fully unmanned fuel stations by AA Rano Nigeria, owned by oil magnate Auwalu Abdullahi Rano.

The new stations allow
customers to refuel without on-site attendants, using digital and contactless payment systems, making the experience faster, safer, and more convenient. The stations operate 24 hours a day, providing uninterrupted service for motorists.

AA Rano Nigeria partnered with Petrosoft Limited, a Nigerian technology firm, to integrate SmartPump automation technology across its network.

The first unmanned stations are set to begin operations in January 2026, with plans to expand nationwide.

“Our goal is to modernize fuel retailing in Nigeria and provide a seamless, safe, and digital refueling experience for motorists,” said Auwalu Abdullahi Rano during the launch.

The rollout of unmanned fuel stations is expected to redefine the downstream petroleum sector in Nigeria, reducing operational costs and setting a new benchmark for efficiency in fuel retailing.
