Rivers Assembly Passes Vote of Confidence, Backs Tinubu for Second Term

By Erewunmi Peace

The Rivers State House of Assembly has formally expressed its support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging him to seek re-election in the upcoming 2027 general elections. The decision was made during a plenary sitting on Wednesday, where lawmakers passed a resolution commending the President’s leadership.

Reasons Cited for Support

In the resolution, the Assembly cited several factors for their endorsement, including:

Federal projects executed in Rivers State

Appointments benefiting the state under the Tinubu administration

The President’s overall commitment to national development

The lawmakers described Tinubu as a “visionary leader whose policies have positively impacted Rivers State and Nigeria at large.”

While the resolution signals strong support from the State Assembly, political analysts caution that such backing is symbolic and does not equate to a statewide or national endorsement. It does, however, highlight Rivers State lawmakers’ approval of the President’s policies and governance style.

The Rivers Assembly urged all political stakeholders to support President Tinubu in his potential re-election bid. Observers note that the move may influence local political alignments and could be leveraged ahead of party primaries.
