Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has reacted sharply to former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s remarks at his 65th birthday celebration, saying he was so provoked that he “almost collected the microphone and hit it on Obasanjo’s head.”

Speaking in response to the controversial comments made by the former president during the event, Fayose said Obasanjo’s speech was unnecessary, provocative, and completely out of place for a birthday celebration.

According to the report, Fayose explained that he remained calm during Obasanjo’s remarks only out of respect for his guests and to avoid creating a chaotic atmosphere. He noted that Obasanjo had a long history of making disrespectful statements about political figures, especially those who disagreed with him.

The former governor added that Obasanjo’s comments at the event were “offensive” and showed the former president’s well-known tendency to “talk down on people.” Fayose insisted that he refused to react immediately because doing so would have disrupted the event.

Fayose, who has had a long and public history of political clashes with Obasanjo, said he would not allow the former president’s comments to overshadow the celebration of his new age. He insisted that Obasanjo has always been intolerant of opposing views and often uses public platforms to belittle others.

The exchange has since generated reactions on social media, with many Nigerians commenting on the long-running feud between the two political figures.
