Tinubu Declares State of Emergency on Security Training Institutions

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a state of emergency on the training institutions of Nigeria’s internal security agencies, citing obsolete facilities and the urgent need to improve the capacity of frontline security operatives.
According to official information from the Presidency and verified national reports, the directive affects training schools belonging to the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and other internal security bodies.
The President noted that Nigeria cannot effectively tackle rising insecurity if those responsible for national safety are trained with outdated tools and environments.
A special committee under the National Economic Council (NEC) has been given 30 days to submit a comprehensive upgrade plan and begin immediate rehabilitation of training infrastructure.
The move is part of wider security reforms geared toward professionalizing security agencies, enhancing operational readiness, and improving community safety across the country.
