Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has assured residents of the state that his administration will take decisive steps to prevent a repeat of the deadly bandits’ attack on the National Park Service office in Oloka Village, Oriire Local Government Area.

The governor gave the assurance on Wednesday, January 8, 2026, while reacting to the attack which reportedly led to the death of several forest guards attached to the National Park Service.

Makinde described the incident as unfortunate and disturbing, calling for calm among residents of the affected communities.

He expressed condolences to the families of the victims and pledged that the state government would work closely with security agencies to bring the perpetrators to justice.

According to the governor, security operatives have been deployed to the area, while intelligence and tactical efforts have been intensified to restore peace and prevent further attacks.

“This will never happen again. We will leave no stone unturned to ensure the safety of lives and property in Oyo State,” Makinde was quoted as saying.

The governor also urged residents to cooperate with security agencies by providing useful information that could aid ongoing investigations.

The attack has raised fresh concerns over security around forest reserves and border communities in the state, as authorities continue efforts to curb criminal activities linked to armed groups.
