Moshood Adeoti Withdraws From Omoluabi Progressives After Losing ADC Governorship Ticket
By Erewunmi Peace
Moshood Olalekan Adeoti, a prominent politician and Deputy Leader of Omoluabi Progressives, has formally withdrawn from the political group, following reports that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) selected another candidate as its governorship nominee for Osun State.
Adeoti submitted a letter of withdrawal on November 30, 2025, in which he stated his decision to step aside from all activities within the group. He cited pressure from his family and a desire to take a temporary break from political engagements as reasons for his withdrawal.
Although his exit coincides with ADC’s ticket decision — reportedly favoring Dr. Najeem Folasayo Salaam over Adeoti — he did not explicitly link his resignation solely to the outcome of the primaries. Nor did he announce joining any other political party at this time.
In his statement, Adeoti expressed gratitude to members of Omoluabi Progressives for their support and urged them to continue working toward the group’s goals. Analysts suggest that his departure may have implications for internal dynamics within Omoluabi Progressives, as well as the broader political landscape in Osun State ahead of upcoming elections.
The move underscores ongoing shifts within Nigerian politics, where party affiliations and loyalties continue to evolve in response to electoral decisions and strategic considerations.
