A fresh political clash has erupted in Osun State as Governor Ademola Adeleke sharply criticised former governor Rauf Aregbesola, describing his eight-year tenure as the “worst in Osun’s history.”

Adeleke’s remarks followed Aregbesola’s declaration that his party, the African Democratic Congress (ADC), is ready to take over Osun in the 2026 governorship election.

The governor accused Aregbesola of leaving behind a legacy of debt, abandoned infrastructure and deep political division in the state — issues Adeleke claims his administration is still grappling with.

However, Aregbesola fired back, defending his performance in office and rejecting the accusations. He argued that his administration delivered significant development and that Adeleke’s criticisms were politically motivated.
