Former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has expressed deep shock over the sudden death of the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo. The former president reacted in a statement on Thursday, describing the incident as a painful and heartbreaking loss.

Jonathan said he received the news with “deep shock and sadness,” noting that Senator Ewhrudjakpo was a loyal statesman who served Bayelsa and Nigeria with dedication and integrity. He described the late deputy governor as a man of uncommon patriotism, intellectual strength, and unwavering commitment to public service.

According to Jonathan, Ewhrudjakpo’s passing is not only a huge blow to Bayelsa State but also a national tragedy, considering his contributions to governance and leadership. He commiserated with the deceased’s family, the Bayelsa State Government, and the people of the state, praying for comfort during this difficult period.

Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo served as deputy governor under Governor Douye Diri and was widely respected for his administrative capacity and devotion to duty.
