Accord Clears Adeleke as Sole Aspirant for Osun Governorship Primary
By Erewunmi Peace
The Accord Party has officially cleared Ademola Adeleke as the sole aspirant for its governorship primary in Osun State, paving the way for his candidacy in the 2026 elections.
Party officials announced that Adeleke met all the requirements for the primary, which eliminates the need for a competitive contest within the party. The decision also reflects the party’s confidence in Adeleke’s leadership and popularity in the state.
“Senator Adeleke has been cleared as the sole aspirant for the governorship primary,” an Accord Party spokesperson said, adding that the party is committed to a transparent and smooth nomination process.
Observers note that this move positions Adeleke strongly ahead of the 2026 elections, giving him a head start in consolidating support among party members and voters. It also avoids internal wrangling that can sometimes weaken parties before key elections.
The Accord Party is expected to hold the formal primary and ratify Adeleke’s candidacy in the coming weeks, as preparations for the 2026 Osun governorship election gain momentum.
