FG Urges NSCDC to Strengthen Intelligence as Interior Minister Decorates 113 Senior Officers

The Federal Government has urged the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to enhance its intelligence-gathering capacity as part of efforts to address the country’s security challenges.

The call was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, during a decoration ceremony for 113 newly promoted senior officers of the Corps.

Speaking at the event, the minister emphasized the importance of intelligence-driven operations, noting that proactive intelligence remains a critical tool in preventing crime and safeguarding lives and infrastructure.

He charged the officers to see their promotions as a call to greater responsibility, discipline, and professionalism.

Tunji-Ojo also highlighted the expanding role of the NSCDC in national security, including the protection of critical national assets, infrastructure, and other special security assignments.

He stressed that collaboration with other security agencies and effective intelligence sharing would improve operational efficiency.

The newly promoted officers were decorated in recognition of their service and performance, with the minister congratulating them and urging them to uphold the core values of the Corps.

The event underscored the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening internal security institutions and improving the nation’s overall security architecture.
