“No Claim, No Contest”: Court Orders Final Forfeiture of Lekki Mansion Used as Cannabis Storage Hub

A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has ordered the final forfeiture of a mansion located at Block 11, House 2, Mobolaji Johnson Estate, Lekki Phase 1, to the Federal Government of Nigeria, after it was discovered to have been used as a storage hub for cannabis.
The order followed a forfeiture application filed by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), which told the court that the property had been linked to a drug trafficking syndicate operating in the Lekki area.
Delivering the judgment, the presiding judge held that since no individual or organization came forward to claim ownership or contest the forfeiture, the property would be permanently seized by the government under Nigeria’s anti-narcotics laws.
According to court documents, NDLEA operatives had earlier raided the property, where several large bags of “Canadian Loud” cannabis and other prohibited substances were recovered. The agency described the house as a major operational base for an organized drug ring.
“The court, having satisfied itself that due process was followed and no valid claim was made, hereby orders the final forfeiture of the property to the Federal Government,” the judgment read in part.
The NDLEA reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying efforts against drug trafficking and asset laundering, warning that any property linked to illicit drug activities would face similar confiscation.
This latest ruling comes amid a series of high-profile forfeiture cases in Lagos, as authorities continue to clamp down on real-estate assets allegedly used to conceal proceeds of crime.
