Nigeria’s GDP Grows 3.98% in Q3 2025 — NBS
By Erewunmi Peace
The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has reported that Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew by 3.98% in real terms in the third quarter (Q3) of 2025, up from 3.86% recorded in Q3 2024.
According to the NBS, the non-oil sector remains the main driver of growth, with strong performances in agriculture, telecommunications, real estate, finance, construction, manufacturing, trade, and other services. The oil sector also showed positive growth, although its contribution to the overall economy is smaller relative to the non-oil sectors.
Nominal GDP — the total value of goods and services at current market prices — also rose significantly, reflecting increased economic activity across sectors.
Economic analysts say the data reflects a continued structural shift toward non-oil sectors in Nigeria’s economy. While the growth rate is positive, experts warn that it remains below the level needed to rapidly reduce unemployment, poverty, and inflation.
The Q3 2025 report highlights Nigeria’s economic resilience and offers a snapshot of the challenges and opportunities ahead as the country seeks to strengthen its economic performance and improve living standards.
