“2027 Election Must Be Free and Fair, Eyes of Entire Continent Are Upon Us” – INEC Chairman

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman, Prof.
Joash Amupitan, has emphasized that the 2027 general election in Nigeria must be free, fair, and credible, noting that “the eyes of the entire continent are upon us.”
Speaking during an INEC strategic retreat and induction session in Lagos, Prof. Amupitan highlighted the commission’s commitment to conducting elections that meet global standards of integrity and transparency.
He stressed that the upcoming elections are a watershed moment in Nigeria’s democratic journey and called on all stakeholders to support the process.
He further assured that INEC is leveraging technology and strict procedural measures to ensure a smooth and credible electoral process, while emphasizing the importance of public trust and participation in safeguarding Nigeria’s democracy.
