Rivers SSG, Benibo Anabraba, Dumps PDP

The Secretary to the Rivers State Government (SSG), Dr. Benibo Anabraba, has officially resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Anabraba’s resignation was confirmed in a letter addressed to the chairman of his ward in Rivers State, where he stated that his decision takes immediate effect.
Although he did not give detailed reasons for his exit, political observers believe the move is connected to the ongoing political crisis and realignments within the state.
The development comes amid a wave of defections by key political figures in Rivers State, following the lingering rift between major stakeholders in the PDP.
In recent months, several high-ranking officials and party members have either resigned their positions or switched political allegiance.
As of the time of filing this report, Anabraba has not officially announced his next political destination, and the Rivers State Government is yet to issue a formal statement regarding his resignation from the ruling party.
The defection is expected to further reshape the political landscape in Rivers State as preparations gradually build toward future electoral contests.
