Kwara Govt Approves 27.5% Allowance for Teachers, Effective January 2026

Kwara State Government has approved a 27.5% Teachers’ Specific Allowance (TSA) for public school teachers, set to take effect from January 2026.
The announcement was made following the presentation of the 2026 budget to the Kwara State House of Assembly by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
The allowance aims to boost teacher welfare and incentivize professional development within the state’s education sector.
According to government sources, the TSA will be applied as follows:
27.5% for teachers certified by the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN)
21% for teachers without TRCN certification
Governor AbdulRazaq highlighted that this decision reflects the administration’s commitment to enhancing the quality of education and supporting the welfare of teachers across Kwara State.
The state government also indicated that implementation will commence in January 2026, coinciding with the start of the new fiscal year.
