Germany Bans Muslim Group Accused of Pushing for Caliphate

By Erewunmi Peace

Germany’s Interior Ministry has banned the Muslim association Muslim Interaktiv, accusing it of promoting anti-constitutional ideologies and advocating for the establishment of an Islamic caliphate.

According to Interior Minister Nancy Faeser, the group’s activities were “incompatible with the democratic order” and encouraged hatred against Jews, women, and sexual minorities. Authorities say the organization sought to replace Germany’s constitutional system with Islamic law, while rejecting the existence of Israel.

The ban, announced on November 5, 2025, also led to nationwide police raids on properties linked to Muslim Interaktiv and two related groups — Generation Islam and Reality Islam — as part of ongoing investigations. All assets belonging to the banned group will be confiscated, and its operations are now illegal throughout Germany.

The Interior Ministry stated that the move was necessary to protect Germany’s constitutional values and social cohesion. However, representatives of Muslim Interaktiv have denied promoting extremism, claiming they merely advocate for Muslim identity and community rights.

The ban follows increased government scrutiny of organizations accused of spreading extremist ideologies and antisemitic narratives amid rising tensions linked to global conflicts.
