President Tinubu and former VP Osinbajo reconcile

By Erewunmi Peace

For many months after the 2023 APC presidential primaries, there were widespread speculations about the relationship between President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and former Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo.

Both men contested for the APC presidential ticket, a development that surprised many Nigerians considering their long political association. Following Tinubu’s victory at the primaries, rumours began to circulate that the contest may have created tension between the two leaders.

However, recent developments suggest that any political misunderstanding between them has been put behind them.

Sources within the All Progressives Congress (APC) revealed that party leaders worked quietly to ensure unity among key stakeholders after the primaries, stressing the importance of reconciliation ahead of the general elections.

President Tinubu has, on several occasions, spoken positively about Prof. Osinbajo, describing him as a capable leader who served the nation diligently as Vice President. Osinbajo, on his part, has publicly congratulated Tinubu on his electoral victory and has continued to show support for the party.

Political observers say the renewed public interactions between both men show that the APC leadership is focused on internal unity and governance rather than past political contests.

While neither Tinubu nor Osinbajo has made a detailed public statement on their private discussions, their recent appearances and comments suggest that the party has moved forward.
