Properties worth millions of naira were destroyed following a fire outbreak that engulfed a lounge and a nearby residential building in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The incident, which occurred in the early hours of the day, affected a lounge located within a hotel premises as well as an adjoining residential structure. Eyewitnesses said the fire spread rapidly, consuming furniture, electrical appliances, and other valuable items before emergency responders arrived.

Officials of the Oyo State Fire Service confirmed that firefighters were immediately deployed to the scene upon receiving a distress call. They were able to contain the inferno and prevent it from spreading to other nearby buildings.

Although no loss of life was reported, occupants of the affected buildings were said to have suffered significant material losses. The exact cause of the fire has not yet been officially determined, but investigations are ongoing.

Fire service authorities have once again advised residents and business owners to ensure proper electrical installations and adhere strictly to fire safety measures to prevent similar incidents.
