Six Family Members Found Dead in Locked Room in Rivers Community

Six members of a family have been found dead inside their residence in the Ogale community of Eleme Local Government Area, Rivers State.
The tragic discovery was made on Sunday after neighbours became concerned when the family failed to respond to calls and did not come out of their home in the morning.
The house was reportedly locked from the inside.
According to the Rivers State Police Command, officers were alerted and later forced entry into the building, where the bodies of the six family members were found in a room.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, CSP Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the incident, describing it as a case of sudden and unnatural death. She stated that preliminary investigations suggest the deaths may have been caused by inhalation of toxic fumes, possibly from a generator used inside the house.
She added that investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of death, while the bodies have been deposited at a morgue for further examination.
The police also advised members of the public to ensure proper ventilation when using generators and other fuel-powered equipment indoors to prevent similar incidents.
