Adesina Calls for Full Electronic Transmission of Results Ahead of 2027 General Elections

Former presidential spokesman Femi Adesina has called for the full electronic transmission of election results ahead of the 2027 general elections in Nigeria, describing it as essential for credible and transparent polls.

Adesina made the remarks during a keynote address at a media lecture in Ibadan, where he urged journalists, election stakeholders, and government authorities to ensure the implementation of electronic result transmission—a provision already backed by law but not fully utilized in the 2023 elections.

He emphasized that the inability to transmit results electronically in previous elections undermined public confidence and stressed the need for media vigilance and ethical reporting to strengthen electoral integrity.

“We must ensure that the mistakes of 2023 do not repeat themselves. Full electronic transmission of results is necessary to safeguard transparency and credibility,” Adesina said.

The former presidential aide also highlighted the role of the media in scrutinizing the electoral process, educating the public, and holding authorities accountable, urging all stakeholders to act decisively to guarantee free, fair, and transparent elections.

Political analysts have noted that calls for electronic transmission of results reflect growing public demand for reforms that reduce manipulation, enhance efficiency, and improve trust in Nigeria’s democratic process.
