2027: Atiku Dismisses Obi–Kwankwaso Alliance Speculation as Threat to Ambition

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has addressed speculation surrounding a potential political alliance involving Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso ahead of the 2027 Nigerian general election.
Through his media adviser, Paul Ibe, Atiku described rumors of such an alliance as not a threat to his political ambition, emphasizing that it is too early to make any definitive claims about ticket arrangements.
Atiku’s camp also highlighted that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) will select its presidential candidate through democratic primaries, which remain open to all aspirants.
While the former Vice President welcomed the idea of broad collaboration among opposition figures, he cautioned that speculation alone does not shape election outcomes.
The comments come amid ongoing discussions in Nigeria about opposition alignments, with some factions denying negotiations or formal agreements between key political figures. Observers say the debate underscores the fluid nature of alliances as parties prepare for the 2027 elections.
