ADC Warns Obidients Against Divisive Rhetoric Ahead of 2027 Election

By Erewunmi Peace

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has cautioned supporters of former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi—popularly known as Obidients—against what it described as divisive political rhetoric, warning that such actions could negatively affect Obi’s chances in the 2027 presidential election.

The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, made this known while reacting to the growing “Obi or nothing” slogan circulating among some of the former Labour Party candidate’s supporters.

According to Abdullahi, politics requires broad coalition-building, inclusiveness, and strategic alliances rather than rigid loyalty that alienates potential supporters.

He explained that extreme political positioning and hostile engagement with other political actors could weaken efforts to form a united front ahead of the 2027 general election. The ADC, he said, is focused on building a platform that accommodates multiple political interests and aspirants within a common structure.

The party urged Obi’s supporters to adopt a more inclusive and constructive approach to political engagement, stressing that no single individual can win a national election without widespread support across regions, parties, and interest groups.

Peter Obi, who emerged as a major political force in the 2023 presidential election, has continued to enjoy strong grassroots support, particularly among youths. However, the ADC insists that maintaining unity and moderation in political messaging is key to electoral success in 2027.
