Osborne Umahi, son of Nigeria’s Minister of Works, David Umahi, has been confirmed as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Ohaozara Local Government Area in the upcoming council elections in Ebonyi State.
Emerging as the sole aspirant, Osborne secured all 54 votes cast by delegates during the primary election held at Obiozara Primary School in Uburu. The Deputy State Chairman of the APC, Alphonsus Nwali, who chaired the electoral committee, officially declared Osborne the winner. He commended the people of Ohaozara for their continued support of the party in previous national and state elections.
In his acceptance speech, Osborne pledged to prioritize significant road infrastructure projects aimed at connecting farmlands to markets, enhancing the transportation of produce. He also expressed his commitment to implementing policies that empower the youth and create meaningful opportunities for local development.
Minister David Umahi, in his remarks, expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for his endorsement and thanked Governor Francis Nwifuru for supporting his son’s candidacy. He assured the public that Osborne would fulfill his promises, highlighting plans to open village roads, establish agricultural clusters, and implement youth empowerment programs.
“He will ensure that all Ohaozara youths are gainfully employed and that leadership in the area meets the expectations of the people,” the Minister stated. He further urged Southeastern Nigerians to recognize President Tinubu’s efforts in addressing developmental challenges in the region.
As the elections approach, all eyes will be on Osborne Umahi to see how he implements his vision for the community and engages with the local populace.
