In a significant political move, Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (retd.), has formally joined the All Progressives Congress (APC). The announcement was made on February 3, 2026, during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics.
General Musa, who recently completed his tenure as the 18th Chief of Defence Staff, cited the support he received from the APC as a critical factor in his decision to join the party. “The APC has given me the platform to present myself right from when I was CDS till date, so why not?” he stated.
In addition to his new party affiliation, General Musa expressed his unwavering support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, emphasizing the importance of unity and collective effort to ensure the success of the current administration. “Mr. President needs all support, totally. I’ll give him all my support, whatever I can do to make sure that he succeeds in his call of duty, including moving forward to the second term,” Musa added.
Musa has been appointed to the Central Coordination Committee responsible for organizing the APC’s National Convention, scheduled for March 27-28, 2026. The committee, announced by APC National Secretary Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru, includes 73 members drawn from across the country, featuring serving governors and key party stakeholders.
As the political landscape evolves, this development has sparked considerable interest and discussion among party members and the public. The APC looks forward to leveraging General Musa’s experience as they prepare for the upcoming convention.
