Gunmen Attack Ebonyi Community, Kill and Kidnap Residents, Burn Homes

An attack by armed men has left several residents of Okporojo Community, Oso Edda in Edda Local Government Area, Ebonyi State dead, many abducted, and numerous homes destroyed.
The incident occurred on January 29, 2026, and is reported to be one of the most violent in the area in recent months.
Details of the Attack
Reports indicate that the attackers stormed the community in the early hours, targeting homes and residents. While multiple casualties have been reported, official figures from the Ebonyi State Government and security agencies are still pending.
Eyewitnesses said that houses were set on fire and that many residents fled to safer areas to escape the violence. Local authorities have confirmed the incident and are coordinating with security operatives to assess the situation and prevent further attacks.
