The National Judicial Council (NJC) has recommended the Chief Registrar of the Federal High Court and 13 other legal practitioners to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointment as judges of the Federal High Court.
The recommendation was made during the NJC’s 110th meeting, chaired by Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Motonmori Olatokunbo Kekere‑Ekun, held earlier this month. The council approved the list following thorough vetting and receipt of security reports for each candidate, with no adverse findings.
The list of recommended candidates includes Suleiman Amida Hassan, the current Chief Registrar of the Federal High Court, alongside 13 other qualified legal practitioners.
The NJC has forwarded the names to President Tinubu, who now has the constitutional responsibility to approve the appointments.
In a statement, the NJC emphasized that the recommendations are part of its ongoing mandate to strengthen the judiciary, ensure the appointment of competent judges, and uphold the rule of law in the country.
Once approved by the President and formally sworn in, the recommended individuals will join the Federal High Court bench, enhancing the capacity of the judiciary to handle cases efficiently and uphold justice across Nigeria.
