Kwankwaso Tells Gov Yusuf, Other Defectors: ‘I’m Not for Sale’

By Erewunmi Peace

Former Kano State Governor and NNPP national leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has declared that he is “not for sale”, following the resignation of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and other party officials from the New Nigeria Peoples Party .

Kwankwaso made the statement during a gathering with supporters at his residence in Kano, shortly after the governor’s exit from the party. He emphasised that his political stance is based on principles and ideology, not personal gain, and urged his followers to remain committed to the party.

The former governor also hinted at mobilisation efforts for the 2027 general elections, calling on NNPP members to stay focused despite defections. Kwankwaso reassured supporters that the party remains strong and prepared to contest vigorously in upcoming polls.

Governor Yusuf and other party members have reportedly begun discussions about joining the All Progressives Congress (APC), a move that Kwankwaso said would not alter his commitment to the NNPP or its ideals.

The development has intensified political discourse in Kano State, highlighting the growing realignment of political actors ahead of national elections.
