2027: Growing Influence of APC In Rivers politics worries Wike
By Erewunmi Peace
Former Governor of Rivers State and current political leader, Nyesom Wike, has raised concerns over the rising influence of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Wike, speaking during a recent interview, argued that defections to the APC do not automatically guarantee political dominance, highlighting the importance of grassroots support and party structure in determining electoral success.
He specifically addressed Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s defection to the APC, insisting that being assigned leadership positions in the party does not equate to control over the state’s political landscape.
Political analysts say Wike’s comments reflect ongoing tensions in Rivers State politics, where the rivalry between Wike’s supporters and APC elements is intensifying ahead of the next general elections.
The former governor’s remarks underscore the strategic battles over influence, party loyalty, and grassroots mobilization in the lead-up to 2027.
