At least 162 people were killed when armed attackers stormed the village of Woro in Kaiama Local Government Area, Kwara State.

The incident, described as one of the deadliest attacks in the region, has left the community reeling and homes destroyed.

According to eyewitnesses and local authorities, the assailants moved through the village, burning homes, shops, and other properties. Several residents were reportedly abducted, including women and children, while many others fled in panic to nearby towns for safety.

The Nigerian government has deployed security forces to the area to restore order and provide protection, while local leaders have organized burials for dozens of victims. The attack has drawn condemnation from both national and international organizations, with officials describing it as a “cowardly and senseless act of violence.”

Experts say this tragedy underscores ongoing security challenges in parts of north-central Nigeria, where communities remain vulnerable to attacks by armed groups. There are calls for urgent government intervention to protect civilians and prevent further bloodshed.

Communities in Kwara State continue to mourn, and relief efforts are underway to provide support for displaced families and survivors.
