APC: We’ll Decide Tinubu’s Running Mate When the Time Come

By Erewunmi Peace

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has said it will decide who becomes President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s running mate at the appropriate time, dismissing ongoing speculations surrounding the position of Vice-President Kashim Shettima.

The party made this clarification following reports suggesting that discussions were already underway to replace Shettima ahead of the next general election.

Speaking on the issue, the APC said such speculations were premature and unfounded, stressing that decisions concerning presidential tickets are taken in line with electoral timelines and internal party processes.

According to the party, there is no official move or plan at the moment to replace the Vice-President, adding that the focus of the Tinubu administration remains on governance and delivering on its mandate to Nigerians.

The APC further urged party members and the public to disregard rumours and refrain from unnecessary political distractions, noting that leadership decisions will be made “when the time comes.”

The statement has helped to calm political tensions, even as debates continue within political circles about future alignments ahead of the next election cycle.
