PDP Approves March 28, 2026 for National Convention

By: Erewunmi Peace

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially approved March 28, 2026 for the conduct of its National Convention, the party’s National Caretaker Committee announced on Monday.

The decision was reached during the 105th meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) held in Abuja, aimed at resolving leadership issues and preparing for the election of members of the National Working Committee (NWC) and other statutory organs.

A communiqué issued by Abdulrahman Muhammed, National Chairman of the PDP National Caretaker Committee, and Samuel Anyanwu, National Secretary, confirmed the dates following extensive deliberations on party affairs, legal rulings, and organizational readiness.

The convention, scheduled to take place in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, is expected to provide a platform for PDP members across the country to participate in the election of party executives and strengthen internal democracy.

Political analysts say the March convention is a critical step in resolving lingering leadership disputes within the party and setting the stage for its preparations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
