Former Ondo State First Lady, Dr. Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, has officially declared her intention to run for the Imo East Senatorial District seat in the 2027 general elections. During her announcement, she also publicly endorsed Peter Obi for the 2027 presidential race.

Speaking to supporters in Owerri, Dr. Anyanwu-Akeredolu highlighted her experience as an activist and her commitment to advancing good governance and development in Imo State. She described her senatorial ambition as a continuation of her service to Nigerians, emphasizing the need for representation that prioritizes education, healthcare, and youth empowerment.

“I have decided to contest for the Imo East Senate seat because I believe the people deserve dedicated leadership that will amplify their voices at the national level,” she said.

She also expressed strong support for Peter Obi, declaring, “It is Peter Obi or nothing. His vision for Nigeria aligns with the aspirations of millions of Nigerians who desire a new direction for our country.”
