FG Officially Takes Over TASUED from Ogun State Government

By Erewunmi Peace

The Federal Government has officially taken over the Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) from the Ogun State Government, marking a major transition in the institution’s history.

The formal handover was sealed through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Federal Government and the Ogun State Government during the university’s 17th convocation ceremony held in Ijagun, Ogun State.

Institution Now Under Federal Control
With the agreement finalized, TASUED has now been integrated into the federal university system and will operate as a federally owned institution.

Governor Dapo Abiodun formally handed over the university on behalf of the Ogun State Government, while the Minister of State for Education represented the Federal Government at the signing ceremony.

Reason for the Takeover
According to officials, the move is aimed at strengthening teacher education in Nigeria, improving funding structures, and enhancing institutional development.

The transition is expected to provide the university with increased federal funding, improved infrastructure support, and broader national recognition.

What This Means for Students and Staff

As a federal institution, TASUED will now benefit from federal allocation, oversight, and policies guiding other federal universities in Nigeria.

Further details regarding administrative adjustments and structural changes are expected in the coming weeks.
