Wike Vows to Protect PDP Against Internal Threats

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has pledged his unwavering commitment to safeguarding the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from internal challenges and ensuring its unity and survival. Wike made this assertion while addressing the 105th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja.
Wike emphasized that his focus is on the party’s overall stability and success, stating, “Let me be clear: I am committed to the survival and success of this party.” He specifically mentioned the ongoing situation within the Oyo State chapter of the PDP, reflecting his concern for the party at all levels.
In light of recent internal disputes and legal battles, Wike dismissed claims of intimidation among party members, stating that recent court decisions have weakened any threats to the party’s structure, leaving opponents with no choice but to acknowledge the authority of the Caretaker Committee.
Wike urged members to remain vigilant against attempts by what he termed “vampires” looking to hijack the party’s structures across the nation, reinforcing the necessity of unity within the party. “The PDP is strong. We must capitalize on our resources, focus on grassroots mobilization, and prepare for the upcoming congresses and the national convention,” he advised, referencing the scheduled national convention on March 28–29, 2026.
Reassuring members of the party’s resilience, he declared, “They will not give up until they believe we are defeated. But I will not be destroyed. You will not be destroyed. Let us move forward.”
As the PDP prepares for significant events ahead, Wike’s commitment to protecting the party may prove pivotal in fostering unity and strategic planning for future challenges.
